Pinkberry: Swirly Tangy Goodness

Standard

Attention yoghurt lovers and calorie counters! Pinkberry is now open inEgyptto bring you the creamy tangy goodness that you deserve. Pinkberry is the latest non-fat frozen yoghurt craze.

Pinkberry at City Stars mall is located on the 2nd floor of phase two. The décor of the shop is simple yet trendy and inviting. The pebbled flooring and the prevailing pistachio green, blue, orange, and white give you a sense of nature and freshness. The lighting and the white counters add to the pristine appearance of the place. There are spherical white paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling; the shop is strewn with small round white tables and pistachio green and white wholly-carved chairs. Of course you can get cosier on the white and yellow striped sofas lining the walls that are covered with droolicious ice-cream and fruit photos.

There are six flavours of non-fat yoghurt ice-cream to choose from—original, chocolate, mango, pomegranate, passion fruit, and coconut. The smiley server behind the counter noticed my indecisive wandering eyes and immediately offered me tasting samples in squeezable mini-cups. All flavours are natural, smooth, refreshing, lingering, and tantalizing to the taste buds with their variable tanginess. The ice-cream melts slowly in your mouth giving you a chance to savour every mouthful of swirly goodness. The pomegranate and passion fruit are the tangiest. The sweet mango is perfectly fruity; the subtle coconut flavour is fairly sweet and tangy. The chocolate is awesome in being chocolate rich, the least in tanginess, and the most satisfying for your sweet tooth. Yoghurt lovers will enjoy the original’s perfect blend of sweet and sour, pure non-fat frozen yoghurt.

I ordered a small cup, a mix of chocolate and pomegranate flavour. Having survived that, I was asked to pick four toppings each from the wide selection of liquid, dry, and fresh succulent fruit toppings display— blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, kiwis, bananas, oranges, mangoes, pineapples, mixed nuts, chocolate chips, organic fruity bears, honey almond granola, shaved milk chocolate, toasted almonds, cookies and cream, brownies bites, dark chocolate crisps, honey, caramel, chocolate sauce, and pomegranate sauce. Absolute torture!

The small cup size is really generous. The plain original small cup is for 16 LE while the flavoured is for 20 LE. With four toppings of your choice (an extra 12 LE instead of 20LE), the original small cup is for 28 LE while the flavoured is for 32 LE. Standard toppings are for 5 LE each, luxury toppings are for 10 LE each.

I ensconced myself on the sofa, enjoyed the background music, and gorged myself with this guiltless heavenly treat.

Beware: It’s addictive!

Also, if you go at the end of the day, you’ll catch the berries in a bad shape.

Tip: Enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy the tasting samples, even if it isn’t your first time!

You can also add one of the more expensive luxury toppings like milk chocolate crunch, peanut butter crunch, and swirly whip.

And no hovering waiters; a quiet corner on the snug sofa can be a perfect getaway from the hubbub, with nothing to interrupt you except necessary scooping.
